BBC World Service
Technical Consultant (freelance consultant)London, UK. March 1995 - July 1996
Assigned as a Software Consultant to design and assist with the development of a planning and scheduling system for the broadcast of their world wide radio service.
The system was designed in close harmony with the producers and presenters of their English service to provide a sophisticated means of planning transmission schedules. The system provided direct feeds to their Internet service and to the production of their 'Worldwide' and 'Radio Times' magazines.
I was responsible, also, for planning and presenting of Informix 4GL and UNIX training courses to their software development and support teams. Documented training notes and also supplied guidelines for development standards. I was charged with ensuring that the development and support teams adhere to software development standards in force and that all relevant staff received further training where necessary.
The PRINCE project management and strict quality assurance methods, were utilised throughout the project.

Footnote
This project remains in my thoughts more than any other. It was the most delightful place to work. I met many truly interesting and eccentric people as part of my work and even managed to work in the studio with Steve Wright on 6 occasions. Truly memorable.
